KICK START Success Story: Young Michaels
We call it the KICK START for a reason….
And Young Michaels is a perfect example why.
The 28 Day KICK START, which we do 3 times per year (coming in September!) is meant to be the beginning of your weight loss program, not the ENTIRE program. If you follow it properly, you will not only get GREAT results during the KICK START, but you will continue to get results long after!
Just like Young.
Young joined our January KICK START and did amazingly well. Since then, she has become a part of our Northridge group training crew and stuck to the nutrition principles she learned in the KICK START.
Her results so far:

Here is her take, in her own words:
“After living with my post-baby body for 2 years I finally had enough! I knew I needed to find a strong program to help me lose the weight. I found Arena fitness on Yelp and saw that enrollment for the January 2017 Kick start was taking place. I contacted them via the website and talked to Jonathan the next day. We decided the best option was to try the $20 one week trial.
I hadn’t worked out regularly in about 6 years and pregnancy had left my abs still separated (Diastasis Recti), so I was unable to a sit-up or push up and could not sustain running for longer than 1 minute. On top of being out of shape, I had been living with a hip injury for 3 years ago that was still causing hip/back pain. I was so nervous walking into Arena on my first day. Will, met me at Arena Northridge and listened to all my concerns and talked me through various work outs and stretches to help with my hip/back pain. After my trial week, I was so impressed with the individual attention I got in the semi-private and group training sessions. Will and Phill always made sure the exercises didn’t put extra strain on my hip and were so attentive to my body positions. My form was so poor on all the exercises. I had no idea how much the rest of my body was compensating for weak abs and hips.
I signed up for the January2017 Kick Start and was very impressed by the program and the meal plans. As a nurse, I am wary of gimmicky diets/fads. But I had no hesitations because all the nutritional information was presented with evidence (and it made sense). I stuck to the nutrition and exercise program to a T. I didn’t miss a weigh in and looked forward to watching the pounds come off. On the Kick Start program I lost 12.5lbs and 18 inches total. I felt great. At the end of the program, I decided to join Arena as a member. I chose the twice a week membership, as that is all my schedule allows me to go. I continued to follow the post-program guidelines for nutrition and exercise.
Since the end of the kick start program, I lost another 18lbs for a total of 30 lbs. I still follow the nutrition plan but it is has become normal eating for me. I don’t even think of it as “dieting” or depriving myself. I work out twice a week at Arena and two times at home. I am the strongest I have ever been. I have not had any hip pain in the last 4 months!! My abs now have definition and not separation. I can actually do real push ups (and even plyo push ups) and sit ups. And for the first time ever, I enjoy running. Joining Arena Fitness was the best decision I made for my health and my body. Now, my focus is not weight loss, its about keeping my body healthy and getting stronger so I can continue to keep up with my toddler.
