If you’re at all like me, you’re in recovery mode from a long weekend filled with juicy BBQ and glutenous treats. Sometimes a little friendly motivation is in order to help get you back on track. Alas, my End of Summer Shred! This time around I’m requiring a food/exercise journal to help you stay on track. Trim, toned bodies are made in the kitchen as much as the gym. You can do a million crunches a day, but those six pack abs are not going to show through the 5 cheeseburgers you ate this week.

I’m a strong believer in eating to live, not living to eat. We are all human. We love food. Eating should be enjoyable. I’m here to show you that you can have your cake and eat it too… just not EVERYday! I don’t believe in diets. Diets just set you up to fail. You may get initial results but these methods of weight loss have proven to be ineffective in the long run and they can even cause lasting damage to your body. I’m only going to say this once so please read carefully: If you want to lose weight and keep it off, it is time to change your lifestyle. I believe in living a healthy, realistic lifestyle. I eat clean and healthy food 85% of the time and the other 15% I allow myself treats. If you follow this lifestyle, then you won’t find any need to diet. Keeping a food journal has been found to be extremely successful in long-term weight loss. Eating well is half the battle.

But don’t take my word for it. As Nike quoted so well, Just Do It! Join me in my End of Summer Shred and prove to yourself that you can. Sometimes the only person standing in your way of your own success is yourself. Sign up this week. Competition begins September 12th. Be a part of something.
